How we check
From the register to the last line of the terms, in six steps.

Six steps
How a brand gets onto the slate
Find the licence
We locate the brand's licence holder on the Gambling Commission register and record the account number, licence number and activities. The status must read Active and the brand's website must be listed among the domains.
File it under its product
Casino brands need a casino activity on the licence; sportsbooks a betting activity. A brand appears only under products its licence covers.
Copy the offer whole
The welcome offer comes from the operator's own UK promotions page where we can read it, or from a dated listing where we cannot. Its significant terms are copied word for word, never shortened.
Test it against the rules
Casino wagering must be 10× the bonus or less, and an offer may not mix betting with casino, bingo or lottery. Offers that break either rule are left off.
Mark the conditions
We highlight each condition in the terms, such as minimum odds, expiry or payment exclusions, and explain what that kind of condition means. The notes explain; they never replace the operator's words.
Date and re-check
Each review shows the date of its last check. We re-check every brand at least every 90 days, and sooner when an offer changes.
Order
Why we do not rank
Every list here is alphabetical. A ranking claims one site is better than another for everyone, and we do not think that claim can be fairly supported. Alphabetical order keeps the slate neutral and leaves the comparison to you.
We give no scores or stars. If we add notes from testing a site, they will say what we did and when, kept apart from the licence facts.
Money
Keeping commission out of it
Operator links carry a tag that tells the operator the visit came from us. We may receive a commission from operators in future. A commission never decides which brands appear here, in what order, or what we say about them.
Brands cannot pay to be listed. A place depends on an active licence and an offer within the rules. The arrangement is on how we are paid.

Corrections
If we have something wrong
Write to editors@slatecasino.co.uk or use the contact form. We check the register or the operator's page, correct the review and give it a new check date.
